UnLtd provides support and funding to social entrepreneurs around the UK who have the determination and commitment to change the world around them. The London-based charity offers financial and pastoral support, and a network of people or businesses that can help these individuals make their projects successful. As part of a 5-year strategy to change the way they work, the UnLtd Management Team wanted to introduce flexible working for both its office and field-based staff to enable them to work in locations that suited them, and spend more time with the entrepreneurs who need their help.

Challenge & Solution

UnLtd had previously been largely office-based, even though the charity has a large number of field-based staff who often need to work from home or on the move. The charity was using Skype for communications, but it wasn’t integrated with other systems. With social entrepreneurs based throughout the UK, sometimes in remote rural areas, it was becoming challenging for the team to be on the ground where it counted. New Signature recommended Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Intune which enabled UnLtd to deploy Windows 7 Enterprise, and take advantage of BitLocker and Direct Access features together with centralised management tools through System Center Configuration Manager.

Benefits

The charity now has a secure, cost-effective platform which enables everyone to be productive wherever they are. The team can download Office365 to 5 devices each, across multiple platforms including Windows, iOS and Android. Cloud-based document storage and collaboration in SharePoint facilitates co-authoring and sharing of content, allowing projects to be progressed quickly. With online communication through Skype for Business travel expenses are dramatically reduced and contact frequency increased. Cloud data storage provides UnLtd with an immediate disaster recovery plan and automatic software upgrades ensure staff will always have the latest functionality at their fingertips.
