With business continuity planning something most companies have never heard of – the FPA was keen to make it more mainstream.

The Fire Protection Association (FPA) is the UK’s national fire safety organisation, one of 28 similar national bodies worldwide. It was established in 1946 and has strong support from the insurance industry, primarily through the Association of British Insurers and Lloyds. It is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and provides benchmark services within the UK.

All businesses are at risk from natural disasters such as floods and fires, but very few companies have any idea what would happen if something like that happened to them.

FPA wanted to make an application available to all kinds of companies that would allow them to outline how they would cope in the event of an emergency. They challenged us to create an application that delivered a great user experience, was really easy to use and made business continuity planning something that was available to the masses rather than a select few.

Try it now.

Business continuity can be an incredibly complicated issue – but it’s also a subject that is very dry and boring. In order to try and breathe some excitement into the process, New Signature used Windows Presentation Foundation – Microsoft’s software platform – to build rich and engaging experiences for the desktop. The solution quickly and simply collects data from the user and uses this to build a continuity plan. It also provides essential on-the-spot advice immediately following an incident.

A free download, ROBUST has been designed specifically to address the hurdles currently identified as discouraging companies from embracing business continuity planning. Designed with logical workflow, easily recognisable within normal company structures, it provides feedback on quality and completeness and is provided with all necessary training to develop the plan.

The application has been a big hit and is currently used by many thousands of businesses around the UK. For more information, or to use ROBUST inside your business, head HERE.
