Mark Ptacek | CCBCC Lead Systems Specialist

With five manufacturing facilities covering 11 southeastern states, Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated (CCBCC) in Charlotte, North Carolina, was in search of a solution to meet the needs of their ever-expanding workforce. The question that Mark Ptacek, Lead Systems Specialist at CCBCC, wanted to answer is, “How do you keep a team that’s not physically connected, connected?” New Signature and Dell Software formulated the answer.

Mobile workforces are more common today than ever, and the proper collaboration tools are a necessity to keep productivity strong. With CCBCC currently using IBM’s Lotus Notes, they looked to New Signature and Dell Software to join forces and develop a solution to seamlessly migrate from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange with no disturbance to operations and within a specified budget and timeline.

New Signature developed an Exchange strategy to modernize CCBCC’s infrastructure to better integrate tools to their end users.

Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated looked for a trusted partner to help them build the new Exchange environment, and found one in Microsoft Partner of the Year New Signature. From there, New Signature and CCBCC brought Dell Software on board to select migration and coexistence solutions from Dell’s 60+ products designed to simplify the Exchange migration process and save CCBCC migration costs.

“We chose Quest Software Notes Migrator for Exchange to allow us to quickly migrate peoples’ mailboxes,” says Jeff Meyer, Southeast Chief Sales Officer for New Signature. By utilizing Dell Software migration tools, New Signature had access to a migration reporting feature that removes any uncertainty that comes with a database migration by monitoring content location before, during, and after migration, as well as preserving document and file structure. The Dell Software solution also gave New Signature the ability to preserve communication through the entire process for all CCBCC employees and users.

New Signature used Dell Software migration tools to meet all of CCBCC’s goals well within the timeline given.

“We were able to get our users on the same platform two months ahead of schedule with zero impact to our users,” says Ptacek. “It was so easy, our admins were able to handle the migrations themselves, completing the task 33% ahead of schedule.”

The partnership between New Signature and Dell Software shortened the timeframe and reduced consulting costs all while meeting the migration goals without impeding operations.
