Microsoft announced Yammer seamless activation in Office 365, but what does that mean? Starting February 1st and over the next few months, Yammer will be activated and accessible in the Office 365 app-launcher.
Wait, what’s Yammer?
An Enterprise Social Network that enables employees to share content, collaborate and break traditional silos in an open forum. It’s Microsoft’s solution to social and increases the productivity capabilities of Office 365.
When will see the change?
Office 365 customers with 150 or fewer licenses on a Business Office 365 plan will be targeted starting February 1st. Next, customers with 5000 or fewer licenses that include Yammer will see the change starting March 1st and continue throughout the month. Finally, all remaining customers and education subscription users will get the release starting April 1st.
What can we do to prepare?
Corporate social networks benefit the most when use-cases and planning are done prior to release. Check out our 6 Steps to a Successful Social Journey to help you plan. Determine which use-cases that would benefit from a social approach will immediately drive adoption and engagement. For example, moving highly engaged distribution lists into groups, will provide a historical account of traffic to the distribution list in a public space that’s searchable.
Not ready for Yammer yet? Licenses can be un-assigned in Office 365 to delay the process.
