Don’t miss out on all the new opportunities to optimize, properly manage and protect your Azure environment. We are constantly helping clients overcome the complexity and fast-paced nature of the cloud by providing global managed services around the clock, and committing to ongoing education. We watch out for all the newest features being rolled out by the Microsoft development team and make sure our customers are aware of their impacts.
Microsoft will frequently develop new features and roll them out in a soft launch in a public preview mode. This allows for Microsoft clients to test out the new features and leave feedback so that bugs and kinks can be worked out prior to the full launch into general availability mode.
Over the past month, Microsoft has released a handful of new features for Azure for general availability:
- Event Hubs for Node.js
Microsoft Event hubs monitor and track every event that happens within your infrastructure. The hubs can collect millions of events per second, and this new feature extends the receivability of Event Hubs to any application based on Node.js. This extensibility will help to automate data collection of any Node.js application.
- Immutable Storage for Azure Blob Storage
To align with regulations for industries like financial, healthcare, legal services, insurance and public organization, Immutable storage ensures that data is non-erasable and non-modifiable for a certain amount of time. This helps with compliance for any industry that is governed by the SEC, CFTC, FCA, or other governmental entities.
- Azure Availability Zones in West US 2 and Europe
It’s vital to choose your datacenters wisely, and having new access in the western United States and Europe to Availability Zones, which are only available in certain regions at this point, means that mission-critical workloads in those areas will be supported with a 99.99% success rate avoiding downtime (with a Service-Level Agreement).
- Serial Console for Azure VMs
Serial Console for VMs is now available in all regions for Azure, and with it comes new features, including magic SysRq keys, non-maskable interrupts, and subscription-wide enable/disable.
