On September 15, New Signature, Microsoft, and Hershey brought together executive Internet of Things (IoT) thought leaders from various industries, including construction, manufacturing, specialty chemicals, and food production, to present the newest developments in IoT innovation and provide a collegial platform for industry leaders to discuss ways to get started. This event reflects the strategically aligned IoT partnership between New Signature, Microsoft, and Hershey that focuses on surfacing ideas and approaches around IoT in the form of a Consortium.
The 2016 IoT Summit was held at the Waynesborough Country Club outside of Philadelphia and included presentations and visual demonstrations by New Signature’s Luis Morinigo, decorated IoT thought leader, as well as George Lenhart, Senior Manager of Workspace Solutions at The Hershey Company, and Microsoft’s Rahul Garg. The presentations functioned as an overview of IoT technologies, and focused on the various ways in which IoT can be applied to industries in order to create connected enterprises.
Microsoft’s Rahul Garg presented Microsoft’s vision of IoT by exploring the history of the technology, and tracing it back as far as the 1800s, when data from cameras was used to analyze the running styles of horses and led to the development of moving film. George Lenhart told the story of Twizzlers, and how vision became reality through IoT, along with the importance of real-time machine responses. Luis Morinigo presented a use case walk-through example that helped executives visualize a connected enterprise through the building blocks of Azure’s IoT.
Presentations were followed by executive roundtable discussions, during which executive attendees could share perspectives of IoT, brainstorm ways to approach current business problems, and develop a deeper understanding of the technology capabilities. These discussions lead to better clarification of IoTfunctionalities, and built confidence in business leaders who consider the implementation of IoT daunting. And while IoT adoption may include challenges—security concerns, infrastructure adjustments, and organizational hurdles—these challenges can be approached and conquered with the help of New Signature’s advanced analytics experts, leading to business transformations through IoT technologies.
New Signature, Microsoft, and Hershey come together to solidify the philosophy that solving complex business problems requires multiple perspectives, a deep-dive into data, and a collaborative spirit. Combine that with the most progressive, analytical, and innovative technologies, and your business can begin thinking big, taking small steps, and creating dynamic transformations.
