Public sector bodies are increasingly focused on digital transformation goals – shifting for paper based to digital processes, leveraging cloud technology to deliver faster, more secure outcomes, innovating citizen services and more. The latest release of the Digital Outcomes and Specialists Framework (DOS3) opens up new opportunities for them to connect with approved, credible suppliers and to start bringing unrealised goals to life. As a long-standing cloud transformation partner to public sector organisations in the UK, New Signature is proud to be named as an approved services supplier in this new, dynamic framework.
A quick DOS3 overview
Not yet fully up-to-seed with DOS3? Here’s a quick overview. The framework, published on the UK Government’s Digital Marketplace, is designed to help the public sector find suppliers that can research, design, build, test and deliver software applications and digital services. Since the launch of the first iteration at the end of April 2016, over 1,850 project opportunities have been published on the marketplace.
The framework is divided into 4 lots within which New Signature is an approved partner in both the Digital Outcomes (building and supporting digital services) and Digital Specialists (providing specialist people for a digital service or programme) areas.
Put simply this means we can support public sector bodies in all areas of digital transformation such as solution design, software development, data analysis, service delivery, testing, auditing etc. We also have skilled individuals within our team to supplement in-house teams on the delivery and/or management of digital transformation projects.
How is this a game-changer?
You might ask how this changes the existing supplier recruitment/tender/procurement process. There are several ways in which the framework will make digital transformation more achievable:
- Cultural connection matters.
The framework makes it quicker and easier to create those first connections that matter so much. Every approved supplier has had to demonstrate compliance and best practice working processes in a number of areas to gain approval. So, you know everyone on the framework passes the first bar. Which leaves you free to get straight into whether the cultural fit and experience matches your needs.
- Ready, set, go
The simplicity of the framework speeds up the whole commissioning and procurement process. Not only does that help fast-track new projects, it also minimises wasted time and cost through a process that is transparent and simplified.
- Tomorrow, today
So, this effectively gives you a ‘green field’ for the ‘possible’. You can move faster towards the goals you have in sight, be able to validate, explore and redefine what you want to achieve for our business, and connect with suppliers who can give you insight into outcomes you may not have yet considered.
Digital transformation in practice
Digital transformation is at the heart of what New Signature delivers. Here’s how we are already helping public sector organisations to leverage digital capabilities to drive gains and service innovation.
Since its inception in April 2013, NHS Wandsworth CCG had explored opportunities to transform IT service delivery as an enabler to improve patient care and team performance. In partnership with them New Signature has replaced their entire patchwork of costly, legacy corporate systems with a future-proof Microsoft cloud environment which is enabling clinical teams to work and collaborate across disciplines using secure, mobile working.
Working alongside The Cabinet Office, New Signature helped Met Office release data to the masses, introducing competition in the marketplace while allowing for improved accuracy amongst weather reports. Using our Azure expertise, we provided a solution in a matter of weeks from start to finish. It is one of the first solutions in which government data will be made publicly available. The results are staggering. The system unlocks daily and hourly data for up to the next 5 days and additionally supplies raw observation weather data. This enables businesses, developers and others to interpret and create their own weather forecasts.
