Let’s say you’ve gone through a lengthy and expensive SharePoint governance project, and just finished setting up all your Document Libraries with retention policies and templates. All of a sudden you notice that some staff are sending around documents not utilizing the templates and falling outside the governance plan. After tracing these documents to their source, it seems as if users are storing items in SkyDrive Pro, which did not inherit your Content Types.

Not to worry! We can enable Content Types on SkyDrive Pro; after all, it’s simply an auto-provisioned Document Library.

  1. Navigate to the SkyDrive Pro library. It will be something like this: https://contoso-my.sharepoint.com/personal/dan_contoso_com/Documents/
  2. Click the library_tabTab, and then library_settings
  3. Click ‘Advanced Settings’
  4. Select ‘Yes’ for ‘Allow management of content types?’ and click OK at the bottomcontent_types
  5. Go back to Library Settings
  6. You will not see the ‘Content Types’ options for the library where you can apply whatever settings are required based on your governance plan
